Air source heat pump reviews

Heat pumps are one of the most popular renewable installations in the UK, along with solar panels and biomass boilers. They’re believed to be one of the most cost effective ways to heat the home and work by taking heat from the ground or air and transferring it to your central heating.

Well-insulated homes will obviously save more on energy bills and carbon emissions can also be slashed by over 5,000kg each year. As a renewable technology, heat pumps don’t produce carbon emissions unlike oil or electric heating systems.

Systems tend to have a life expectancy over 20 years, providing you with a long-term way of generating heat for the home. And on top of this, the Government will be paying those generating their own energy with the Renewable Heat Incentive.

There are also grants available for heat pumps, worth £1,300 for air source heat pumps and £2,300 for ground source heat pumps.

There are three main air source heat pumps recommended in the UK. These are Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Dimplex and we have compiled air source heat pump reviews for the three.

Each heat pump is registered to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and it’s important to use an MCS registered company to ensure your system can receive the Government Renewable Heat Incentive payments.

Dimplex Air Eau air source heat pump reviews

Dimplex has been a renewable giant for three decades, becoming a trusted brand especially in the UK. Dimplex offer air source heat pump models with a range of sizes and outputs, coming with a three year warranty each.

Dimplex’s Air Eau range of air source heat pumps come with four different sizes; the 6kW, 9kW, 12kW and 16kW. This means there is something available for every domestic property, no matter your energy usage or size of home. And because of their very compact designs it’s an easy installation.

Dimplex’s night mode feature also ensures the unit is almost silent when in operation and the defrost function helps in very cold conditions. There is also an additional immersion heater to act as back up for when more hot water may be needed.

Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump reviews

The Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump is manufactured in Scotland, delivering high efficiency levels and offering a technically advanced system. There are three principle output sizes available: 5k, 9kW and 14kW, helping to reduce your home’s CO2 emissions by between 30 and 50%.

The Ecodan range of heat pumps will outperform a boiler, providing more heat for your home in the process. The pump will also take heat from temperatures as low as -20 degrees centigrade and hot water can be provided to 60 degrees.

Hitachi Yukati M air source heat pump reviews

Hitachi’s Yukati air source heat pump is an efficient system which feeds both space and water heating. This helps to cut annual energy bills by hundreds of pounds whilst also slashing CO2 emissions by 50%. This is in contrast to the running of a conventional boiler system.

As the heat pump is designed specifically to be installed outside there is a wireless controller available. It’s a particularly popular installation in Germany and Scandinavian countries where the regions are known for extreme temperatures. And the Yakati even comes with a five year warranty too.
